"Agents of Shield" Season Notes (continuously updated)

The worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division) employs an elite team of agents who investigate strange occurrences around the globe and beyond.


Season 1 follows Skye played by Chloe Bennet as she is recruited to join a current Shield team.


The Shield team consists of:

- Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg)

- Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen)

- Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker)

- Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge)


and


- Grant Ward (Brett Dalton)


SEASON 1


The team investigates Project Centipede and its leader, "The Clairvoyant", eventually uncovering that the organization is backed by the terrorist group Hydra, which has infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. During Season 1 we find that Skye leaves her hacking organization, "The Rising Tide," to join shield. Over the beginning of SHIELD fans became a big fan of Agent Grant Ward as well as the relationship between FitzSimmons.

Season 1 saw a big clift hanger after the episode 10 mid-season finale where Agent Coulson was taken by Raina (a member of centipede). Michael Peterson ran to rescue him but was blown up in an explosion and ultimately captured himself. Episode 11 returned 36 hours after Coulson was taken, in which Skye was kicked off the plane. Skye ends up hacking Shield's system in an attempt to find Agent Coulson, she succeeded. During Coulson's capture he ultimately found out the truth of what happened to him after he died during the New York attacks.

During episode 12, We are then introduced to the concept of HYDRA which will become important later on. Actor, Dylan Minnette, is also featured in this episode. Coulson and May also go on a mission to find out more about Skye. The pair discover that Agent Linda Avery (a shield agent) was the one who dropped Skye off at the fire station. Skye was a O84 (unknown origin) during an opt for Shield. We learn during this episode that 24 years ago an entire shield team and a small village were massacred trying to protect Skye.

During episode 13, Ian Quinn shoots Skye while she is trying to retreve a package from inside his house. The team rushes to save her life, while it is revealed that Peterson is now apart of Project Deathlock.

This leads into episode 14. The team is told that Skye cannot recover, but Coulson takes it upon himself to try and reinact what happened to him by going to the doctors that saved his life. In doing so Coulson finds the room marked TAHITI where he discovered the truth of what happened to him. Coulson realized that the drug used to save his life was created from an allien's insides. Before Coulson could stop the team, Simmons used the drug to save Skye.

During episode 15 it is revealed that Agent May is giving updates to Nick Furry about the information Coulson knows. This leads to episode 16 where Skye becomes a SHIELD agent in the hopes of finding the clarvoyent (apart of centipede). Ward ends up killing the clarvoyent suspect, after which the team discovers that the clarvoyent is a SHIELD agent and needs clearence to have found all of the information that he has. During this, Coulson's team places the blame on Ward.

After Fitz finds Mays incripted hardline the team then places the blame on May. Later in the episode it is found that Agent Victoria Han is the Clarvoyent and is a member of Hydra.

Hydra takes over the SHIELD academy and Headquarters. Agent Coulson then gets a video from May that shows past Colsen as the head of the TAHITI project recommending its termination. This is when Agent Hill (played by Cobie Smulders) temporarily joins the team for the remainder of the season.

Episode 21 picks up by sharing the story behind how Ward and Garrett met and how Ward was recruited. Raina than reveals that Skye's parents were the ones who murdered the village people. The episode also reveals that Garrett was Deathlock patient 0 in 1990. Garrett then orders Ward to kill Fitz and Simmons, but he instead throws them out of a plane into the ocean for a fighting chance to survive. Fitz then risks his life to save simmons in the following episode, which proves to have a big impact on his frontal lobe leaving him with life long injuries.

Episode 22 comes brings the season to a close when SHIELD saves Micheal Peterson's son Ace, bringing Peterson back to their side. This proves beneficial when SHIELD captures Ward and ultimately kills Garrett.

Nick Furry then tells Coulson to rebuild shield and hands Coulson the "tool box" making him the new director. The new SHIELD gets a new headquarters with Billy, who looks exactly like Erik) running the place. The final scene of the season is Raina giving a picture of Skye to a person (not pictured) saying "I found your daughter." This takes us to season 2.

SEASON 2

Season two picks up after Simmons has left SHIELD, later to be revealed that she is uncover at HYDRA. Fitz is going through trauma after his injuries to his temporal lobe. Season two also reveals the new SHIELD team members; Agent Mackenzie (Played by Henry Simmons), Agent Lance Hunter (Played by Nick Blood), and Barbara "Bobbi" Morse/Mockingbird (played by Adrianne Palicki).

Ward also promises to give Skye intell, but will only speak with her. The team also steals a disappearing Quinn Jet which becomes the signature transportation for the team. They also come across the very first O84.

Flash forward to episode five, Raina blackmails Coulson to hand Skye over or Raina will blow Simmons cover at HYDRA. Coulson refuses and Simmons cover is blown. She was saved by Bobbi, who becomes a member of the team during this episode. Skye then finds out from Raina that her father is alive and that was where she wanted to take her.

Skye then figures out that the drawings Coulson has been writing are actually maps.

Episode 6 picks up with the battle of SHIELD vs Ward's older brother (Senator Christian Ward). Ward reveals that the people in Skye's village were HYDRA agents . Episode 6 ends with Ward escaping during a trade Coulson made.

The hunt for Ward continues into episode 7, where the team also discovers that the drawings Coulson has been carving are a blueprint to a city.

During episode 8 - Ward and his older brother head back to the well. Christian revealed that he wanted their younger brother, Thomas, dead because he was the only one their mom didn't beat. Christian also admitted that he forced Ward to almost kill Thomas in their youth.

Episode 8 leads to a HYDRA ambush where Tripp is shot in the shoulder. Skye's dad offered to help him, but sliced an artery in his arm. Ward then murders his parents and his older brother Christian after forcing his confession at the well. It is then revealed that Agent Whitehall was the one who killed Skye's family.

We then head to episode 9. Ward takes Raina out of SHIELD custody as well as Skye. Ward takes Skye to her father, Cal, in episode 10. Cal reveals to Skye that her mom had a gift (she didn't age), and that she has one to. Skye then picks up the obbalisc which doesn't turn her to stone like it does with everyone else. Skye then shoots Ward after he frees her from being tied up.

Raina, Skye, Mackenzie, and Coulson head into the underground city with the cobcules. After Fitz and Simmons set bombs to go off in the tunnels, Tripp races in there to stop the bombs before anyone can be hurt. Skye, Tripp, and Raina lock themselves in the obculus box. The box gives off a powerful force, Tripp breaks the obcalisc after Skye turns to Stone. Raina and Skye then turn back to human, but they now have supernatural abilities, Tripp passes away during the transition. This will be the cause of Skye become "Quake." Raina ends up losing her beauty before breaking to pieces, literally.

Episode 11 picks up with Fitz covering up that Skye's DNA is now different. Skye also breaks a light in the plane with her mind. After Skye walks in on the group talking about her being dangerous she opts to lock herself in a cell. Her Father later reveals in Episode 13 that her real name is Daisy. The team also finds that Skye has capilary ruptures in her arms and more than 75 hairline fractures from her clavicle to her fingers. We are also introduced to Agent May's exhusband who conducts Skye's psyc eval. We are also told that Agent Mackenzie, and Bobbi are working for "the real shield." They reveal this to Hunter, but opt to keep it private.

Ward is back in episode 14 partnering up with Agent 33/Cara. Hunter escapes from Bobbi and "the real shield." Skye is put in a safehouse (the retreat, AKA the house that Banner built), and Bobbi and Mac head back to Coulson's team. Coulson confronts Mac after finding the scanner in the toy car Mac gave him. Agent May catches Bobbi stealing the toy box out of Coulson's office. Skye is found by Gordan (an eyeless individual with superpowers).

Coulson's team is then infiltrated by "the real shield." TRS than heads to Skye's safe house with Bobbi to take her, but Agent May gives Skye a heads up, so she ran. Agent May saves Coulson and frees him while getting herself captured in the process. Skye than uses her powers to stop a bullet after Bobbi warns her. After taking down a forest as in the process she asks for Gordan to help her. Gordan shows up and takes her "back home." That concludes episode 15. Coulson and Hunter meet in a bar. This is when Hunter joins Coulson's team in a permeant position.

Episode 16 picks up with Skye. Skye meets Lincoln Campbell who is her transitioner. Lincoln is played by Luke Mitchell. Skye and Lincoln are placed in "the afterlife." Lincoln is from Cincinnati and is in med school. Most people in the afterlife are preparing to go through a transition that takes place once every few years. Everyone in the afterlife carries the gene needed to go through it, but they have to be chosen. Lincoln then reveals that every cell in his body has a different electric charge.

Mike Peterson is then revealed to be an Agent, and he saves Hunter and Coulson. The trio than take the Quinn Jet. Then, Skye's mom (jaying) shows up when Skye tries to kill Raina. Jaying becomes Skye's guide.

Episode 17 follows why Agent May is the calvary. We also see Fitz make off with the tool box by leaving "TRS." Coulson, Peterson, and Hunter go on the hunt for Agent Ward in attempts to find Skye.

Jaying reveals that Skye's birthday is July 2nd. Agent May killed a gifted child to save her team which is why she is known as the calvary. Skye forgives her dad, and she has dinner with her family. Skye was born in 1988, making her 26. Lincoln then realizes that Raina can now see the future. Coulson and Hunter help Fitz shake a tale.

We then pick up in episode 18. Ward joins Coulson's team with Agent 33. Skye also finds out her real last name is Johnson. Hunter is shot while trying to save Skye. Coulson then turns himself in to "TRS." Peterson and Lincoln are taken by Hydra. Episode 19 is the first time we see the original team back together for an opt. Ward tries to make amence with the core 5. Hunter makes amense with Agent Mac.

Ward gives up Agent 33 to make her happy. Coulson then teams up with Agent Hill in finding Loki's septor. It is also revealed that Theta protocol involves the avengers. Coulson then proposes to combine SHIELD teams. Mac then turns in his bage to Coulson and leaves the team. Ward then shoots Bobbi after Agent 33 takes over a plane. Skye hands over Cal to SHIELD. Gonzales then gives Jaying a gift that they found at Whitehalls office. Jaying then kills Gonzales, and stages a shooting by shooting herself in the shoulder twice.

Afterlife then takes a SHIELD quinn jet and shoots missiles at the city. Skye then turns on SHIELD believing that they turned on her. We then learn that Maying heals by killing others. We are then told that Bobbi handed over Agent 33 to HYDRA. Skye then sees Raina killed by Jaying.

We now head into episode 22. Its SHEILD vs Jaying and afterlife. Lincoln joins SHIELD after Skye tells him the truth of what happened. Ward shoots Agent 33 thinking she was Agent May. Bobbi jumps in front of a bullet to save Hunter. Jaying tries to kill Skye, and Skye launches the plane of crystals into the ocean. Fitz then kills Gordan. Coulson keeps a crystal from dropping to the ground, which leads Mac to cut Coulson's arm off. Cal kills Jaying to save Skye.

Coulson lets the team take time off leading the Season to end with Coulson and Skye as the team. The season ends by showing us that the crystals in the ocean are now in fish oil tablets being sold on the shelves. Fitz then asks Simmons out, but Simmons is engulfed by black gue in the lab. We then head into Season 3.

SEASON 3


Season 3 picks up with SHIELD saving an inhuman named Joey. The team is Skye, (now Daisy), Coulson, Hunter, Mac, Fitz, and Bobbi (who survived from last season).

We also find that there is a new enemy team (Not HYDRA, the ATCU) who is trying to take and experiment on the inhumans. Lincoln is a doctor. Hunter is going after Ward for revenge. Fitz discovers that Simmons was sucked into a portal after trying to get the monalith to take him to. Ward is revealed to be in HYDRA. May is gone on vacation, and Bobbi is tied down to the lab. Mac and Daisy are partners.

Hunter stops at Agent May's house. Daisy opens the portal, and Fitz jumps through it. Fitz sees Simmins. Daisy couldn't hold the portal, smashing the monalith to pieces. Fitz and Simmons both made it out alive. The Monalith is now destroyed. May teams up with Hunter to take on Ward.

Episode 3 picks up with Lincoln running from the ATCU. Coulson then reveals that Mac put a tracker in Lincoln's arm. Lincoln inlist the help of his friend John, but John ends up turning him in. Linc accidently kills him. Daisy saves Linc, and they kiss. Simmons reveals that she must open the portal again, we then head into episode 4.

May returns to the shield base. Coulson makes a deal with the ATCU. The team discovers that the monster (Lash) after them is a fellow inhuman. Dwight Feyes is helping Lash find the inhumans. Daisy watches Lash turn to a human in the shadows. Hunter goes undercover as Richie in HYDRA and runs into Grant Ward. May joins in the fight, but Ward reveals that he has Andrew (May's ex-husband) under surveillance. Hunter doesn't believe Ward so he shoots him in the shoulder. As a result Andrew is killed by Ward's men. We then go to Episode 5.

We then learn of Simmons time spent in the other world with Will. Will has been there since 2001 (14 years), whereas Simmons spent 4,722 hours there.

Episode 6 shows that Andrew is Alive, and May is back as an Agent. Strucker reveals that Andrew is Lash. Lincoln has been communicating with Daisy, but request to speak with Mac after he discovers that Andrew is Lash, and he has the inhuman leger. Lincoln then attacks Lash, and May puts Andrew in stasis. Rosalind is working with HYDRA (Gideon Malik), and is hooking up with Coulson.

Episode 8, Mac confronts Coulson about his relationship with Rosalind. Coulson distracts the ATCU leader while SHIELD infiltrats ATCU's IT center (Steve). Simmons reveals to Fitz that she is in love with Will. Fitz kisses Simmons. Gideon Malik offers help to Andrew in return for secrets on SHIELD. Bobbi discovers that the ATCU is giving mandatory suppliments (terigen) to there workers , meaning that they are turning inhumans. Coulson confronts Rosalind on if she is HYDRA after she slips on knowing TAHITI. May appoligizes to Linc for Andrew. Rosalind Price (ATCU leader) reveals that Malik advises the presidents safe, overseas the science devision, and gave her the TAHITI devision.

Bobbi takes on the inhuman R. Giyera. Malik has another monalith and the monster that lives inside is the HYDRA leader. We also find that Will is a member of HYDRA, and every year HYDRA sends people through the portal, but have never been able to bring people back. Grant teams up with Malik, and confronts Andrew.

Next, episode 9. Coulson and Rosalind are having dinner, when Ward shoots Rosalind and kills her. Coulson goes after Ward making Mac acting director. R. Giyera then kills Banks, and kidnapps Simmons and Fitz. Coulson then attacks a bank to kidnapp Grants younger brother, Thomas. Thomas reveals that he is on SHIELDs side, and wants them to take Ward out. Coulson hangs up on ward, pissing him off. Coulson puts Thomas on the phone with Ward making them speak for the first time in 15 years. Thomas confronts Ward. Coulson traced the call. Ward goes after Simmons.

Fitz makes a deal for Ward to stop hurting Simmons as long as Fitz goes through the portal. Mac clears Linc and Josh for field duty. Malik asks Ward to go to the other side with Fitz he agrees. Fitz promises Simmons to bring back Will. Ward and Fitz go through the portal. Coulson jumps out of the plane into the portal after Ward.

Coulson, Fitz, and Ward are now stuck on the other side.

Onto Episode 10. Ward and Fitz find a HYDRA symbol on the other side. Malik reveals that they are trying to bring Maveth back from the other side. Maveth means "death" in Hebrew. Fitz finds Will. Simmons escapes and frees Andrew from HYDRA custody. Fitz and Will escape. Coulson shoots Ward, injuring him. Josh jumps in front of a bullet to save sky, he melts the bullets.

Coulson shoots ward again. Lash killed all of the inhumans in stasis. Fitz and Will find a destroyed ancient city. 1 of 9 past cities on the other side. Fitz finds out that Will died saving Simmons, and now the person in Wills body is the Maveth. Coulson attacks Ward. Fitz lights the Maveth on fire. Coulson breaks Wards rib cage, killing him, and leaves his electric hand behind. Fitz and Coulson run to the portal, and make it out alive. May launches misciles and destroys the castle and portal. Lincoln kisses Skye, May hugs Coulson, Simmons hugs Fitz after realizing that Will wasn't with them. The episode ends with Ward (now Maveth) holding Coulson's electric hand after having made it out of the portal.

Episode 11 picks up with Coulson meeting with the President, and the introduction of Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez / Slingshot (played by Natalia Cordova-Buckley). Agent Glen Talbot becomes the head of the ATCU.

In a meeting with the delegates of the world Malik takes Talbots son, George (puts him in stasis) to make Talbot turn the remaining delegates against Coulson. Talbot teams up with creel. May finds George. Linc and Daisy get into a fight about the possibility of an inhuman vaccine, after which they hookup in episode 12.

Hunter and Bobbi get captured in Russia after saving the Prime ministers life, and as a result they both give up their status as agents of SHIELD.

The team then gives Hunter and Bobbi a Spies goodbye in a bar as they are unable to make contact with them. "The spy's goodbye," is a farewell from friends who could likely never speak to them again.

We then meet Malik's daughter, Stephanie, (played by Bethany Joy Lenz).
