Big Time Rush is back with their first song since 2013, and their comeback single. Bandmates Logan Henderson, James Maslow, Carlos PenaVega and Kendall Schmidt decided after eight years away from the music industry as a group that they were ready for a return.
Since parting ways in 2013 the boys have been up to a multitude of individual projects. Kendall Schmidt began a band called 'Lovers Make Liars" and a duo band called 'Heffron Drive" with guitarist Dustin Belt. Schmidt also has a long term relationship with girlfriend Mica Chu.
Similarly James Maslow also has found love in long time girlfriend and model Caitlin Shey Spears. The Singer also became the founder of a clothing brand known as Vacation Club Clothing and he DJ's in his free time. Maslow will also be diving into the acting realm in upcoming film 'Stars Fell Again.'
Since the bands departure Logan Henderson has dived into the solo artist realm and has even gone on a few tours. Henderson also has been rumered to be dating Jasmine (Jazzy) Miles.
Perhaps the biggest success story from the bands departure has been Carlos PenaVega. PenaVega went on to become the host of Webheads and He currently voices Bobby Santiago in The Loud House and its spin-off, The Casagrandes. In 2014 he married actress Alexa Penavega. The pair have three beautiful children together. The couple even went on to compete on Dancing with the Stars season 21. Carlos placed in fourth while Alexa placed in sixth. Carlos has also starred in many films including 'Enchanted Christmas,' 'GREASE live!' 'Life Sentence,' 'Picture Perfect Mysteries,' and so many more.
Since the release of their song "Call It Like I See It," Big Time Rush has taken the stage at The iHeartRadio's Jingle Ball in Philadelphia and the Chicago Theater in Illinois, and will end the week with a sold-out concert at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom on Dec. 18.
When speaking on their return Carlos noted, "For me, the icing on the cake is that now it's our time to run the show. Nickelodeon and Sony did a great job and we're so thankful for their support. This time, we get to do it as the four of us. We get to make all those decisions. We get to decide exactly what songs are going to go out. Exactly what color the lights are going to be on the tour. The creative process this time around is just so much more fulfilling because this is our baby."
According to Billboard, "After first reuniting via Zoom during the pandemic in June 2020, Big Time Rush announced a pair of reunion shows in New York and Chicago last July. The boy band’s last proper studio release was their third album 24/Seven, which bowed at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 upon its release in 2013."
Since the songs release it has "held strong in the Top 20 of The Genius Top Songs chart," but reviews are still coming in as to how people feel on the new Big Time Rush.
