Jimmie Allen Wins CMA for New Artist of the Year

Live from Nashville on November 10th came the yearly CMA's or Country Music Awards hosted by Luke Bryan. The night was filled with amazing accomplishments for many artists across the board including; Chris Stapleton with six wins, and Jimmie Allen winning his first CMA for New Artist of the Year. Allen went up against Ingrid Andress, Gabby Barrett, Mickey Guyton, and HARDY. Allen is only the second black performer to claim the title, second to Darius Rucker.


All eyes turned to Allen during his tearful speech as her began by thanking his father for introducing him to country music. He then continued, "Five years ago I spent my last $100 and came to the CMAs 50th to watch Charley Pride perform on stage, and I got to perform with him last year. Everyone who voted for me, thank you. My wife, I love you. My kids, my mother's here. My manager Ash Bowers, Ash found me playing at a writer's round at Puckett's grocery store in Franklin and signed me after 10 years of being here, living in my car, living in a trailer, working every job, this is amazing."


Allen ended his acceptance speech with "Thank you country music. This is for my hometown in Delaware." Allen also took to the stage at the CMA's to preform one of his hit songs "Freedom Was A Highway."


The country singer has two albums 'Bettie James(2020)' and 'Mercury Lane (2018),' more recently he has released a single with Noah Schnacky, and has released 'Bettie James Gold Edition.' Allen is also a published author of a children's book titled 'My Voice is a trumpet.'
