The new CBS medical drama 'Good Sam' is arriving to the network on Wednesday January 5th 2022.
The series follows Dr. Sam Griffith as she begins her leadership role as chief of surgery following a shooting incident that leads to her boss ending up in a coma. "When her former boss wakes up months later demanding to resume his duties, Sam is tasked with supervising the egotistical surgeon who never acknowledged her stellar talent. Matters are complicated further by the fact that the caustic and arrogant Dr. Rob "Griff" Griffith also happens to be her father. As Griff defies Sam's authority and challenges her medical expertise, the big question becomes whether this father and daughter will ever be able to mend their own relationship as expertly as they heal the hearts of their patients."
'Good Sam' is driven by creator Katie Wech and producer Jennie Snyder Urman, whom are fresh off a run of women-led shows like “Reign,” “Jane the Virgin” and “Charmed," just to name a few.
When speaking with DailyNews, actor Jason Issacs who plays Dr. Rob Griffith, commented on the series; “If she (Sam) gets emotionally involved with every patient, not only will she not be the best doctor, she won’t be able to go on. He thinks she’s not ready to run a department. Actually dealing with patients and the technical, medical, scientific knowledge needed to do heart surgery is not the same necessarily as knowing how to be a good leader or making bold decisions...We see that in politics: the people who make the best speeches are not necessarily the ones who make the best decisions. The people who want to be popular are not always doing what’s best for their constituents.”
Sophia Bush, alum of 'One Tree Hill' and 'Chicago P.D.' will take the role of both the title star and an executive producer of the new CBS medical drama. “There is such a heightened sense of what’s important in the walls of a hospital when things are literally life and death," says Bush. “Both of these people have a reason to believe what they believe. It feels real and it feels grounded, and all of the ways that Sam is an optimist, Griff has learned hard lessons and he’s pragmatic perhaps to a fault.”
The series begins the week and will continue Wednesday(s) at 10 PM
